When is the best time to send an email marketing campaign

November 4th, 2009

What is the best day for an email marketing campaign to go out?

Email marketing is a way of promoting your business.  The ideal is to get as many people as possible to see your email and open it.

I believe that Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday mid morning are the best times for the email marketing campaign to go out.  I think that on a Monday most people are trying to get their week organised and certainly I seem to spend most of Mondays trying to plan and am not necessarily open minded in looking at new items and concepts.  I also think Friday for a single email is not such a good time because people are thinking about their weekend.

So my vote would be for mid week in the mid morning when I believe you have the most chance to catch people.

Having said that I also believe that the most important thing is your message and the way that the email is presented.  If you were offering a new car for £2 then I think whatever day or time you sent the email you would undoubtedly get good response.

A professional approach to the campaign, planning what  you expect to achieve from the campaign, what to say, how to say it, who to send it to and when to send will give you the best possible results.

Good luck with your planning.

What is the best day to send an email marketing campaign

November 4th, 2009

In my opinion the best time to send an e-mail marketing campaign is Tuesday and Wednesday Morning around 11am.

We have sent numerous campaigns at various times and days.

Monday is not the best day as everyone is catching up from the weekend and leaving work early on Friday.

Thursday and Friday are not the best days as if people are taking time off it tends to be at the end of the week.

Sending over night means that it is in the inbox first thing and people will quickly browse over it as it in amongst numerous other e-mails sent over night.

In the afternoon they have their daily work load and are either very busy with work or planning what they are going to do that night and what might be for tea. Either way you will not get their full attention

By 11am most people are in the office, had their 2nd coffee and first fag break, they have been through the nights e-mails and the inbox is now empty. They are now more likely to open an e-mail from a sender they don’t know.

Internet Sales Continue to grow

Internet Sales Continue to Grow……….

All the recent research carried out by large organization shows that on-line sales continue to grow.

traditional high street retail in fighting the economic downturn with online sales

Recent research by IMRG Cap-gemini e-Retail Sales Index showed that UK online spending for the first six months of 2009 stood at £22.9 billion.

Online shopping has continued the of continuing to grow month on month despite the economic downturn,   in June on-line sales experiencing a 12.3% rise compared to May. Online spending is however not rising at the forecast rate and IMRG Cap-gemini have revised the forecast for online sale growth to 12%, down from the previously forecast 15%.  Traditional High Street retail is not growing at anything like this in September 2009 the BBC reported that retail growth was 2.4% higher than the September 2008. The CBI’s distributive  trades survey said that High Street activity had risen to its highest for five months in September, while the British Retail Consortium said the month had seen the “best total sales growth figures since January 2008″. Online shopping has shown an average 14% year on year growth.

The main question for all business be they on-line or traditional type of business is how to grow the business and target your potential customers.

A recent report by Forrester Consulting gives good insight into understanding consumer preferences for advertising channels and campaigns.

The report of emerging trends for US marketers shows that, in terms of preference, recipients reported an increased or decreased preference for the following channels:-

·         Email marketing is increasing by 3.6%

·         Text messaging up 2.9%

·         Phone campaigns up 1.4%

·         Instant messaging up by 0.6%

·         Social media up by 0.3%

·         Direct mail dropped by 8.6%

What is becoming apparent is that the way to promote your business is through internet based mediums.

Why to choose Email Marketing

June 29th, 2009

Email Marketing is becoming one of the most effective and popular marketing methods for UK businesses.

According to recent reports from the Direct Marketing Association UK, sales from direct marketing activity total £133.4 billion each year, of which £76.4 billion of this is from consumer sales and £57 billion results from business to business direct marketing.  Email contact per month has increased considerably and average email delivery rates for both retention and acquisition emails have reached long term highs of 95% and 89% respectively.

Businesses of any size can benefit from email marketing and anyone can use it to promote awareness of their company and increase sales.

There are many reasons why to choose email marketing:

1)    Personal Approach – most emails allow you to personalize your message, so you can address your email to the correct person making them feel less like a recipient of a bulk email.

2)    Speed – email campaign can be sent quickly and easily and you will be able to view the responses and see the increased benefits almost immediately.

3)    Cost – sending an email campaign is far cheaper than sending a direct mail campaign via the post. As response rates are often higher than direct mail also, you will have a far better return on investment using email campaigns.

4)    Response Rate – as emails are fully traceable, you will be able to get a good insight into how successful your campaign has been. You should be able to see how many emails were delivered, opened and clicked on.

5)    Relationship Building – as emails are cheaper and easier to send, you will be able to use them to keep in regular contact with your customers. You may decide to produce a regular newsletter to improve and build stronger customer relationships.

Buying Email Address Lists

June 26th, 2009

There are a large number of companies offering bulk email lists for sale, it is important when looking at email lists you establish how regularly the data is cleaned and how up to date the data is.  Many email lists also contain large numbers of generic email addresses which can give a misleading figure when compiling numbers of entries in a marketing list.

Before you buy email addresses you should also establish you are using a reputable registered company with a proven track record of delivery.  Purchasing email addresses can seem like a significant expense but if used correctly can produce extremely cost effective campaign delivery results in the long run.

Email Broadcasting

May 22nd, 2009

Email Broadcasting is becoming an increasingly important aspect of many companies’ business plans.  Email broadcasting offers a cheap alternative to direct mail for presenting up to date information and offers to a wide range of potential customers.

There are three keys to successful broadcasting; Data, Design and Delivery.

Data: In this instance refers to the email address of the potential customer along with their geographical location, job role and industry.  These facts help you to target the right audience from the start.

Design: Presenting an eye catching design may help your company’s brand and image, but is worthless if the content quality does not match or the subject line does not encourage customers to open the email.  Effective email design includes all aspects of drawing a customer in presentation, subject matter, the hook and most importantly, the call to action. It is vital once you have successfully captured a potential customer’s attention you instruct them what to do next and provide enough incentive to carry out the instruction.  Sales and promotions are usually the most effective way of achieving this.

Delivery: All the previous work is undone without correct delivery systems fully implemented. There are many self managed delivery systems on the market starting from as little as a few dollars a month. The majority of these systems are designed for small businesses and clubs to keep in touch with their contact list. For more commercially minded email broadcasting, more sophisticated delivery technology is required, particularly if you are looking to handle bought data.  The key points you should be looking for in a delivery package include spam filter testing, unsubscribe options, double click opt in options, analytics compatibility, full reporting on delivery rates, automated list cleaning to mention just a few.

With years of industry experience within our team, we can help you build a campaign to achieve maximum success.
